DAY 3 Thimphu to Punakha

Drive across Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where on clear days you can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, before descending into the lush and warm Punakha Valley (approx. 3 hours drive). Once the ancient capital of Bhutan, Punakha is known for its scenic beauty and rich history. After lunch, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, the “Palace of Great Happiness,” built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Later, take a pleasant walk through rice fields and across a small river to reach Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, perched on a hilltop and known for its intricate paintings and spiritual significance. After breakfast at the hotel, drive 150 km from Gelephu to Gongphuphu, at the northern tip of Royal Manas National Park, receives the most rainfall in Bhutan, creating a lush sub-tropical ecosystem that shelters wildlife like langur, tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, sambar, and numerous bird species. Overnight stay at an eco-camp in Gongphu.

DAY 6 Gongphu to Panbang
Punakha Valley

After breakfast, drive to Panbang, passing through lush mixed broadleaf forests and dense undergrowth, home to a variety of birds including barbets, hornbills, bulbuls, doves, woodpeckers, and cuckoos. The eco-camp is situated along the route near a village and, thanks to its elevated location, offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Overnight stay at the eco-camp in Panbang.

DAY 7 Panbang, Royal National Manas Park

After breakfast, head to Royal Manas National Park for an exciting elephant safari, crossing the river by boat to reach the safari area. This experience offers an ideal way to explore and appreciate the park’s rich wildlife and natural beauty. In the evening, return to Panbang for dinner and overnight stay at the Panbang Eco-Camp.

DAY 8 Royal Manas Park, Rafting

DAY 11 Trongsa to Gangtey

In the morning, you will explore Trongsa Dzong, a stunning example of Bhutanese architectural brilliance. Afterwards, you’ll drive towards Gangtey, stopping at Chendebji Chorten for lunch. Post lunch, your journey continues through dense oak and rhododendron forests. Taking a diversion from the highway and crossing Lawala Pass, draped in dwarf bamboo, you will reach Gangtey. From here, enjoy views of the scenic Black Mountains and Phobjikha Valley, home to the black-necked cranes during winter. Visit Gangtey Goenpa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan, where you can spend time interacting with the monks, who follow a nine-year course in Buddhist studies.

DAY 12 Gangtey to Punakha

After breakfast, drive to the scenic Gangtey Valley (also called Phobjikha), one of Bhutan’s most beautiful destinations and the wintering grounds of the endangered black-necked cranes that arrive each year from the Tibetan Plateau. Here, you will visit Gangtey Monastery, a 17th-century temple perched on a small hill above the valley and surrounded by a large village, as well as the Black-Necked Crane Information Center, which features an observation room with high-powered telescopes for a closer view of the cranes. After lunch, continue your drive to Punakha.

DAY 13 Punakha to Paro
Punakha Valley

Depart for Paro, stopping in Thimphu for lunch and a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Paro. In the evening, you may visit a traditional farmhouse and, if you like, experience a hot-stone bath followed by a traditional Bhutanese dinner. Overnight stay in Paro.

DAY 14 Hike to Tiger’s Nest/ Taktshang
Punakha Valley

Drive 10 km from Paro to Satsam Chorten and hike up to Taktsang Monastery, or ‘Tiger’s Nest,’ perched on a cliff nearly 3,000 ft above the Paro Valley. A revered Himalayan pilgrimage site, it is said that Guru Padmasambhava meditated here in the 8th century, arriving on the back of a tigress. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Taktsang cafeteria. The round-trip hike takes about 4 hours.

Drive across Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where on clear days you can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, before descending into the lush and warm Punakha Valley (approx. 3 hours drive). Once the ancient capital of Bhutan, Punakha is known for its scenic beauty and rich history. After lunch, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, the “Palace of Great Happiness,” built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Later, take a pleasant walk through rice fields and across a small river to reach Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, perched on a hilltop and known for its intricate paintings and spiritual significance. DAY 4 Punakha to Gelephu

After breakfast at the hotel, drive 150 km from Gelephu to Gongphuphu, at the northern tip of Royal Manas National Park, receives the most rainfall in Bhutan, creating a lush sub-tropical ecosystem that shelters wildlife like langur, tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, sambar, and numerous bird species. Overnight stay at an eco-camp in Gongphu.

DAY 6 Gongphu to Panbang

After breakfast, drive to Panbang, passing through lush mixed broadleaf forests and dense undergrowth, home to a variety of birds including barbets, hornbills, bulbuls, doves, woodpeckers, and cuckoos. The eco-camp is situated along the route near a village and, thanks to its elevated location, offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Overnight stay at the eco-camp in Panbang.

DAY 7 Panbang, Royal National Manas Park

After breakfast, head to Royal Manas National Park for an exciting elephant safari, crossing the river by boat to reach the safari area. This experience offers an ideal way to explore and appreciate the park’s rich wildlife and natural beauty. In the evening, return to Panbang for dinner and overnight stay at the Panbang Eco-Camp.

DAY 8 Royal Manas Park, Rafting

This route is renowned for its rich biodiversity, featuring numerous tree species, orchids, and other fascinating plants. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel.

DAY 11 Trongsa to Gangtey

In the morning, you will explore Trongsa Dzong, a stunning example of Bhutanese architectural brilliance. Afterwards, you’ll drive towards Gangtey, stopping at Chendebji Chorten for lunch. Post lunch, your journey continues through dense oak and rhododendron forests. Taking a diversion from the highway and crossing Lawala Pass, draped in dwarf bamboo, you will reach Gangtey. From here, enjoy views of the scenic Black Mountains and Phobjikha Valley, home to the black-necked cranes during winter. Visit Gangtey Goenpa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan, where you can spend time interacting with the monks, who follow a nine-year course in Buddhist studies.

DAY 12 Gangtey to Punakha

After breakfast, drive to the scenic Gangtey Valley (also called Phobjikha), one of Bhutan’s most beautiful destinations and the wintering grounds of the endangered black-necked cranes that arrive each year from the Tibetan Plateau. Here, you will visit Gangtey Monastery, a 17th-century temple perched on a small hill above the valley and surrounded by a large village, as well as the Black-Necked Crane Information Center, which features an observation room with high-powered telescopes for a closer view of the cranes. After lunch, continue your drive to Punakha.

DAY 13 Punakha to Paro
Punakha Valley

Depart for Paro, stopping in Thimphu for lunch and a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Paro. In the evening, you may visit a traditional farmhouse and, if you like, experience a hot-stone bath followed by a traditional Bhutanese dinner. Overnight stay in Paro.

DAY 14 Hike to Tiger’s Nest/ Taktshang
Punakha Valley

Drive 10 km from Paro to Satsam Chorten and hike up to Taktsang Monastery, or ‘Tiger’s Nest,’ perched on a cliff nearly 3,000 ft above the Paro Valley. A revered Himalayan pilgrimage site, it is said that Guru Padmasambhava meditated here in the 8th century, arriving on the back of a tigress. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Taktsang cafeteria. The round-trip hike takes about 4 hours.

DAY 1 Arrive Paro and Thimphu
Bhutan

The flight into Paro offers a beautiful introduction to Bhutan, with clear-day views of Himalayan peaks like Gangkar Puensum before descending into the green valley. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and driver, who will accompany you throughout your journey, and then drive to Thimphu. After lunch in Thimphu, visit Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, followed by a visit to Buddha Dordenma, a Shakyamuni statue overlooking the valley. Enjoy a relaxed evening stroll through Thimphu town. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Thimphu.

DAY 2 Thimphu Sightseeing
Takin Reserve

After breakfast, explore Thimphu with visits to the Post Office to create personalized stamps, the traditional paper factory to see handmade Deh-sho, and a weaving center where artisans showcase Bhutanese textile skills. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue sightseeing with a visit to Drupthob Dewachen Nunnery, followed by the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal. Later, explore the impressive Tashichho Dzong, which houses the King’s offices and key ministries. Enjoy an evening stroll and some shopping in town. Dinner and overnight stay in Thimphu.

DAY 3 Thimphu to Punakha
Punakha

Drive across Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where on clear days you can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, before descending into the lush and warm Punakha Valley (approx. 3 hours drive). Once the ancient capital of Bhutan, Punakha is known for its scenic beauty and rich history. After lunch, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, the “Palace of Great Happiness,” built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Later, take a pleasant walk through rice fields and across a small river to reach Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, perched on a hilltop and known for its intricate paintings and spiritual significance. Continue to Metshina village and enjoy a short walk to Chimi Lhakhang, a revered fertility temple where visitors can receive blessings.

DAY 4 Punakha to Gelephu
Punakha Valley

After breakfast, begin your drive to Gelephu small towns of Tsirang and Sarbhang, giving you a glimpse of rural Bhutanese life along the way. Stop for lunch en route and continue enjoying the scenic drive through forested hills and rivers. Upon arrival in Gelephu, take a leisurely walk around the town to explore local life, then return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 5 Gelephu to Gongphu
Punakha Valley

After breakfast at the hotel, drive 150 km from Gelephu to Gongphuphu, at the northern tip of Royal Manas National Park, receives the most rainfall in Bhutan, creating a lush sub-tropical ecosystem that shelters wildlife like langur, tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, sambar, and numerous bird species. Overnight stay at an eco-camp in Gongphu.

DAY 6 Gongphu to Panbang
Punakha Valley

After breakfast, drive to Panbang, passing through lush mixed broadleaf forests and dense undergrowth, home to a variety of birds including barbets, hornbills, bulbuls, doves, woodpeckers, and cuckoos. The eco-camp is situated along the route near a village and, thanks to its elevated location, offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Overnight stay at the eco-camp in Panbang.

DAY 7 Panbang, Royal National Manas Park
Punakha Valley

After breakfast, head to Royal Manas National Park for an exciting elephant safari, crossing the river by boat to reach the safari area. This experience offers an ideal way to explore and appreciate the park’s rich wildlife and natural beauty. In the evening, return to Panbang for dinner and overnight stay at the Panbang Eco-Camp.

DAY 8 Royal Manas Park, Rafting
Punakha Valley

In the morning, explore the nearby villages surrounding the Eco-Camp, immersing yourself in local life and traditions, and after lunch, enjoy an exciting river rafting adventure on the pristine waters. Return to the Panbang Eco-Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 9 Royal Manas National Park
Punakha Valley

Spend an additional day here to enjoy and explore more activities within Royal Manas National Park.

DAY 10 Panbang – Trongsa
Punakha Valley

After breakfast, you will drive towards Trongsa. Along the way, you’ll see the landscape transform from sub-tropical zones to lush broad-leaved evergreen forests. This route is renowned for its rich biodiversity, featuring numerous tree species, orchids, and other fascinating plants. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel.

DAY 11 Trongsa to Gangtey
Punakha Valley

In the morning, you will explore Trongsa Dzong, a stunning example of Bhutanese architectural brilliance. Afterwards, you’ll drive towards Gangtey, stopping at Chendebji Chorten for lunch. Post lunch, your journey continues through dense oak and rhododendron forests. Taking a diversion from the highway and crossing Lawala Pass, draped in dwarf bamboo, you will reach Gangtey. From here, enjoy views of the scenic Black Mountains and Phobjikha Valley, home to the black-necked cranes during winter. Visit Gangtey Goenpa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan, where you can spend time interacting with the monks, who follow a nine-year course in Buddhist studies.

DAY 12 Gangtey to Punakha
Punakha Valley

After breakfast, drive to the scenic Gangtey Valley (also called Phobjikha), one of Bhutan’s most beautiful destinations and the wintering grounds of the endangered black-necked cranes that arrive each year from the Tibetan Plateau. Here, you will visit Gangtey Monastery, a 17th-century temple perched on a small hill above the valley and surrounded by a large village, as well as the Black-Necked Crane Information Center, which features an observation room with high-powered telescopes for a closer view of the cranes. After lunch, continue your drive to Punakha.

DAY 13 Punakha to Paro
Punakha Valley

Depart for Paro, stopping in Thimphu for lunch and a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Paro. In the evening, you may visit a traditional farmhouse and, if you like, experience a hot-stone bath followed by a traditional Bhutanese dinner. Overnight stay in Paro.

DAY 14 Hike to Tiger’s Nest/ Taktshang
Punakha Valley

Drive 10 km from Paro to Satsam Chorten and hike up to Taktsang Monastery, or ‘Tiger’s Nest,’ perched on a cliff nearly 3,000 ft above the Paro Valley. A revered Himalayan pilgrimage site, it is said that Guru Padmasambhava meditated here in the 8th century, arriving on the back of a tigress. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Taktsang cafeteria. The round-trip hike takes about 4 hours.

DAY 15 Departure
Punakha Valley

After an early breakfast, drive to Paro Airport for your departure, where our representative will see you off.
