DAY 1 Arrival in Paro & Transfer to Thimphu

Your journey starts with a breathtaking flight to Paro, offering panoramic views of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Bhutan’s revered peaks, Jomolhari and Jichu Drake. On arrival, you will be greeted by your guide and driven to Thimphu, the lively capital of Bhutan. If time allows, take a leisurely walk around the city to experience its distinctive harmony of age-old traditions and contemporary life.

DAY 2 Explore Thimphu

Spend the day discovering the essence of Bhutanese culture and spiritual life. Begin with a visit to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), where the world’s largest seated Buddha overlooks the valley. Continue to the serene Zilukha Nunnery, followed by a tour of the impressive Tashichho Dzong, the heart of Bhutan’s government and monastic institutions. Later in the afternoon, gain deeper insight into Bhutan’s traditions at the National Textile Museum and the Simply Bhutan Museum. Conclude the day with a rejuvenating Traditional Bhutanese Therapy at the 33 Soksoom Centre for Well-Being & Happiness, offering a relaxing and rewarding end to your explorations.

DAY 3 Thimphu to Punakha
Punakha

After breakfast, drive toward Punakha with an initial stop at Simtokha Dzong, the oldest surviving dzong in Bhutan. En route, enjoy a break at the scenic Dochula Pass (3,050 m), famed for its 108 memorial stupas and sweeping Himalayan views. On reaching Punakha, visit Chimi Lhakhang, the renowned Temple of Fertility celebrated for its symbolic phallic art and blessings. End the day exploring the magnificent Punakha Dzong, beautifully situated at the meeting point of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.

DAY 4 Explore Gangtey and Phobjikha valley

Set out today on a picturesque drive to the serene Phobjikha Valley, the winter refuge of the rare Black-Necked Cranes. Observe these elegant birds in their natural habitat, deeply revered in Bhutanese culture. Visit the 17th-century Gangtey Monastery and take in the pristine glacial valley, characterized by rolling meadows and scattered traditional Bhutanese farmhouses.

DAY 5 Journey to Bumthang – The Spiritual Heartland of Bhutan
Punakha Valley

Travel deeper into Bhutan’s sacred landscapes as you head to Bumthang, passing through Pele La Pass, a natural boundary between western and central Bhutan. En route, stop at Chumey Village, home to Bhutan’s famed Yathra weaving, where artisans craft intricate handwoven textiles.

DAY 6 Exploring Bumthang & The Jambay Lhakhang Festival
Punakha Valley

Bumthang stands as the sacred heart of Bhutan, renowned for its timeless monasteries and deeply revered holy places. Your day unfolds with visits to Chakhar Lhakhang, known as the Iron Castle, along with Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang, and the historic Jakar Dzong—each reflecting centuries of Buddhist heritage and legend. As evening approaches, immerse yourself in the extraordinary Jambay Lhakhang Festival, among Bhutan’s oldest and most mystical religious observances. Experience the powerful Ter Cham, the midnight ritual in which 16 men perform the symbolic Naked Dance to drive away negative energies and bring harmony and abundance. The festival is further highlighted by the Mecham, or Fire Blessing Dance, where devotees walk through fire in a profound act of purification and spiritual rebirth.

DAY 7 Return to Punakha

After spending the morning continuing your exploration and discoveries, set out on the return journey to Punakha. Upon arrival, settle into a peaceful and scenic retreat, where the evening is yours to unwind, relax, and reflect on the memorable experiences of the days gone by.

DAY 8 Hidden Gems of Punakha & Return to Paro
Punakha Valley

Begin the day in the calm surroundings of Punakha Valley and head out after breakfast for a gentle hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Walking past terraced fields, forested paths, and prayer flags, reach the hilltop shrine and take in the stunning views over the valley and the flowing Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu rivers.In the afternoon, travel onward to Paro, crossing the scenic Dochula Pass. On a clear day, enjoy views of the Himalayan range, including Gangkhar Puensum, and the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Once in Paro, spend free time wandering through the town, exploring handicraft shops, enjoying local butter tea, or simply relaxing in the peaceful valley before tomorrow’s excursion to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

DAY 9 Hike to Tiger Nest

Hike to Tiger Nest

After breakfast, hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched 900 meters above Paro Valley, where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated in the 8th century. The round-trip trek takes 4–6 hours, offering stunning views of pine forests, prayer flags, and the valley below. Time permitting, visit Paro Rinpung Dzong, a 1645 fortress and monastic center, and take a short stroll through Paro town. Overnight stay in Paro.
