As you walk alongside these scenic lakes, you are rewarded with magnificent views of some of the world’s highest Himalayan peaks, including Mount Everest in Nepal, as well as Jomolhari, Masanggang, Jichu Drake, Tiger Mountain in Bhutan, and others. The route also passes through bird-rich zones, colorful alpine flora, beautiful meadows, and several traditional Bhutanese villages, adding to the charm of the journey.

PREVIEW THE ITINERARY

DAY 1 ARRIVAL IN PARO
Bhutan

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly received by tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, begin your sightseeing with a visit to the National Museum, home to an impressive collection of Bhutanese art and artifacts. Continue to Paro Rinpung Dzong, overlooking the river valley, and then visit the sacred Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, set amidst serene surroundings. Overnight stay at your hotel in Paro.

DAY 2 ACCLIMATIZATION TO TIGER NEST(TAKTSANG)
Takin Reserve

After breakfast, we begin the hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), one of the most iconic and awe-inspiring landmarks in Bhutan. Dramatically perched on a sheer cliff about 900 meters above the Paro Valley, Taktsang is a sacred site where Guru Padmasambhava is believed to have meditated in the 8th century. The round-trip hike to the monastery typically takes 4 to 6 hours, depending on your fitness level, and rewards you with breathtaking views of pine forests, prayer flags, and the valley below.

DAY 3 GENEKHA TO GUR (TREK START)
Punakha

7Km | 5-6 Hours | 230M Ascent | Descent 60M | Camp Alt 3290M

Drive about 45 minutes to Genekha Village, the starting point of the trek, known for its matsutake and chanterelle mushrooms. Follow a mule trail through terraced fields and conifer forests rich in alpine plants and birdlife, then descend to the river before a steady two-hour ascent to a large rock platform at 3,350 m with beautiful valley views. Continue trekking for another two hours to reach the Gur campsite (3,290 m), surrounded by wildflowers.

DAY 4 GUR TO LABATAMA WITH VIEWS OF KANCHENJUNGA AND DAGALA RANGE
Punakha Valley

12Km | 6 Hours | 1010M Ascent | Camp Alt 4300M

Trek along high ridges through rugged alpine vegetation, passing flowers, springtime wild asparagus, and wide meadows. Cross small streams and make a gentle ascent through birch and rhododendron forests to reach Pagalabtsa Pass (4,250 m), marked by large cairns and offering stunning views of Kanchenjunga and Bhutan’s Himalayan peaks. Descend with views over the Dagala Range meadows and yak herders’ camps, stopping for lunch at one of the camps. Continue down into Labatama Valley, then climb gradually past yak huts to Utsho Lake (4,300 m), rich with golden trout, where the campsite is set beside the lake.

DAY 5 DISCOVER AND HALT AT LABATAMA
Punakha Valley

Spend the day discovering one of the nearby lakes—Relitsho, Hentsho, Setsho, or Jagetsho—each known for its clear waters and abundant trout. Your trekking leader will share local legends and mystical tales connected to these lakes. Enjoy a scenic lakeside lunch with breathtaking surroundings, creating a truly memorable moment. After lunch, there is an option to attempt the ascent of Jomo Peak (5,050 m). Return to camp by evening to rest and prepare for the following day.

DAY 6 LABATAMA TO PANKA
Punakha Valley

8Km | 5-6 Hours | 220M Ascent | 520M Descent | Camp Alt 4000M

You will walk along the western side of Dalatsho up to a saddle at (4520m) from where you have a majestic view of the prominent Himalayan peaks such as Everest (Nepal), Kanchenjunga (Sikkim), Masangang, Tiger Mountain, Tsendagang and Jichu Drake in Bhutan. From the saddle the path descends, passing some yak herder huts to Doccha Chuu River. You will follow the river for a while, staying higher up on the slope until you reach Panka. Here the Himalayan monal peasants are common sight, besides yaks and horses. We will camp at Panka (4000m).

DAY 7 PANKA VIA TALAKHA AND CHAMGANG TO THIMPHU

14Km | 8 Hours | 180M Ascent | 1540M Descent

Cross several beautiful mountain passes today, with chances to see blue poppies (June–July) and alpine birds. Stop for lunch at a trail junction leading to Talakha and Wangduephodrang, then make a gentle climb to Tale La Pass (4,180 m) for fine views of the Dagala Range and Thimphu. Descend through forests to Talakha Goempa and continue past orchards to Chamgang village, where your vehicle will transfer you to Thimphu.

DAY 8 THIMPHU SIGHT SEEING
Punakha Valley

Begin with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, the graceful stupa at the center of Thimphu, followed by an excursion to Kuenselphodrang to admire the towering 169-foot Buddha Dordenma, regarded as the world’s largest bronze statue. Continue to the Motithang Takin Preserve, then stop at the Post Office to create your own personalized stamps. Later, experience the lively Farmers Market, Bhutan’s biggest vegetable market filled with local produce and vendors. In the evening, drive to Paro for overnight stay at a hotel.

DAY 9 Departure
Punakha Valley

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport, where our representative will warmly see you off and bid you a fond farewell.
